What are your career aspirations?
School Principal
How are you using what you learned in the Wisconsin Idea Principal Preparation Program (WIPP) on the job?
I’ve been a lot more focused on identifying barriers my students face and attempting to address them to ensure the success of all students.
What experiences shaped your decision to pursue a master’s degree in educational leadership?
I’ve worked in multiple school districts around the state, and I’ve seen some amazing leaders and some not so great.
What attracted you to the WIPP? Did you consider anywhere else?
Having live learning (even through Zoom) was an attractive option.
What was your most rewarding experience at the WIPP?
Developing relationships with my cohort.
What was your most challenging experience at the WIPP?
I would never recommend moving to a house that was a fixer upper in the middle of a semester. This was very challenging!
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
I’m involved with a lot of youth sports in my community. I am a member of our Diamond Club, I am also on the board of our Little League.
If any WIPP alumni, faculty members, or friends have helped you with your career path, who was it and how did he or she assist?
My entire cohort has been amazing. Tina was an amazing guide on the journey as well.
Is there anything you’d like to add or emphasize?
I recommend that future cohorts start by creating a group chat and be willing to communicate. Put yourself out there. Ask questions, even if you think they are “stupid”, because they are not!
