The Wisconsin Idea Principal Preparation Program is designed for professionals to transition into impactful leadership roles, including those in rural communities facing a shortage of education leaders. In order to help address this shortage, and assist with the cost of graduate school, the program is pleased to offer scholarships to eligible applicants. The Barbara S. and Glenn T. Thompson Graduate Award includes eight scholarships, worth up to $8,000 each, that will be awarded annually to educators who aspire to be principals or directors in rural school districts.
Prospective students will receive information on how to apply for scholarship funding upon admittance into the program. Those who are employed by Wisconsin rural school districts will receive priority consideration, although the scholarship is also available to working professionals outside of Wisconsin. Individuals who graduated from high school in a rural school district may also be considered.
